Course Summary

Both technical and creative, modern and traditional. Photography can be personalised to the creative individual. This course allows the student to explore themes, technology and history of photography. Students are not required to have their own camera but if they do they are encouraged to use it. Purchases may need to be made by the student when on the course, such as photopaper. Trips may be offered and visits to specific destinations may be required by each individual in their own time.

Course Details

Photography consists of 4 Units in total. A coursework and exam unit in year 12 and then another coursework and exam unit in year 13. The exam units are externally set controlled tests. The coursework units are based on personal themes and projects chosen by the student. In year 12 students are given the tools and knowledge of photography so that they can utilise this in year 13.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Coursework and exam units are assessed internally and then moderated by the exam board. Coursework units are 1 and 3, exam units being 2 and 4.

Entry requirements

Merit in BTEC Art/graphics/textiles + 4 other GCSE Grades 9-4
