Biology develops key transferrable skills through the study of living organisms and their interactions with each other and their environment. Some of the highest skills shortages in Yorkshire are in STEM and our curriculum is designed to develop scientific methodology, awareness of the advances of technology and recognition of the value of biology in society so that students can go on to enjoy careers in fields such as health and medicine, engineering and research.
Why should I study this subject?
A-Level Biology is a challenging but enjoyable subject that increases your knowledge of life and living organisms and gives you a fascinating insight into evolution, gene expression and biological molecules. Biology helps you to develop problem solving, organisation and analytical skills which are all vital skills needed for further study or employment. It is particularly useful for progression onto medical, biological and ecology related courses at university.
