This is a work-related course where you learn through a combination of practical activities, report writing and projects based on realistic Travel and Tourism scenarios. 

We also work alongside a range of tourism partners and learning is enhanced through visits and a guest speaker programme. These include Hilton Hotels, Yorkshire Wildlife Park and Flamingo Land. 

Students are also required to undertake periods of work experience in both the first and second years of the course. Work experience has been previously carried out with a wide range of 

employers including airports, hotels, hospitality providers, attractions and tourism partners.

This vocationally-based programme is ideal for anyone who is interested in a career in the fastgrowing and exciting world of Travel and Tourism.


You will cover a number of areas, including:

  • The World of Travel and Tourism
  • Global Destinations
  • Managing the Customer Experience in Travel and Tourism 
  • Specialist Tourism
  • Work Experience in Travel and Tourism

You will also be expected to undertake a period of work experience.

You will potentially also be expected to arrange and host a residential visit in Year 2 and complete a Level 2 Cabin Crew Course.

Entry requirements

Standard Level 3 vocational entry requirements apply. The minimum requirement is at least five GCSEs at Grade 4 OR at least 3 GCSE subjects at Grade 4 alongside alternative GCSE equivalent requirements. At least one of Maths or English Language must be Grade 4 and neither lower than Grade 3. If the subject applied for has been taken previously, then at least a Grade 4 at GCSE or Merit at BTEC or OCR Level 2 is required. 

Please note: If you have not achieved a Grade 4 or above in GCSE English and/or Maths you will be required to continue 

Your next steps...

After successful completion of the course, many students progress on to careers within the travel industry. Other students may progress onto the BA (Hons) Degree in Leadership and Management which is validated by the University of Hull at Selby College or progress on to other travel related degrees.
