Biology is one of our most popular Science based subjects. Our brand new course for September 2020 entry offers students the chance to further their study of Biology by taking a different approach from the traditional A Level route.

In this course you will study how the human body functions at a genetic, cellular and tissue level, developing a deep understanding of how Biology and lifestyle factors impact upon the health of individuals. It is an ideal option to support your career in the Health and Science fields.


This exciting course focuses on Human Biology and develops your knowledge, understanding and essential practical research skills in the Applied Human Biology and Health Science areas. Topics include:

  • Principles of Applied Human Biology
  • Practical microbiology and infectious diseases
  • Human Biology and health issues
  • Genetics and Genetic Engineering

You will also explore a range of additional topics such as cells, tissues and biological molecules; diagnostic techniques; and immune disorders.

Our enthusiastic and dedicated staff will bring learning to life, helping you to explore the topic of Human Biology and prepare you for your next steps. 

In addition to developing your knowledge you will enhance your employability skills. You will develop cognitive and problem solving skills along with critical thinking and interpersonal skills such as self-management, adaptability and resilience.

How will it be delivered?

Assessment is via assignments and externally assessed exams, including a written task completed under supervised conditions.

Entry requirements

Grade 4 In GCSE Maths and one Grade 4 within GCSE Single or Combined Science grades or a pass in a vocational level 2 Science qualification.  General entry criteria also applies.  This is available on our website.
