Do you have a keen interest in Games Design, Media and Art and want to develop this interest and apply your skills in a technical capacity?
Would you like to work within the creative media sector? This course will see you enjoying a range of experiences that see you applying these interests, whilst developing highly valuable communication and industry based skills, as you write proposals and pitches for your games commissions.
As a three A Level equivalent, this is a full time study programme and is therefore ideal if you have decided on a career in the creative media sector.
The qualification is designed to be studied over two years and is for students wishing to focus their learning on creative digital media production, this course is suitable for progression onto degrees in media studies, computer animation, media production, multimedia, games development as well as employment and apprenticeships in similar areas.

A series of practical production projects will enhance and develop your technical skills and you will develop your production skills through pitching media projects to help prepare you for your future in industry.
Our dedicated Games Design experts will help prepare you for a future in the industry by helping you to develop your technical skills using the latest industry standard software including Adobe Creative Suite, 3D Autodesk Maya and Unreal Engine 4.
This is a highly interactive course, and you will benefit from the input of our visiting industry speakers and events such as our annual Games Design exhibition, where you will develop a project to a professional standard and showcase this at our exhibition.
Through your experience of practical activities and theory you will develop your self-confidence and communication skills. Group work, role plays and presentations will offer you the chance to develop as a student and prepare you for your next step.
You will also enjoy an annual visit to the Animex Animation and Gaming Festival where you will be able to enjoy talks from industry experts and see the latest developments and opportunities in the industry.
Assessment is via presentations, group work and assignments and externally assessed exams. Your work will be graded at pass, merit or distinction giving you an overall grade at the end of the course.
Grade 4 in GCSE Media Studies and/or Art is desirable. General entry criteria will also apply. This is available on our website.
This course supports a wide range of creative media progression routes. Our student move on to degree courses such as Computer Games Art, Games Design, Media Studies, Games and Animation Production and Media Production. Students also progress to Degree Apprenticeships and as trainees with the industry.
